Racial Identity
Racial identity is a large part of our sense of self, and belonging in the world.
Our racial identity is oftentimes tied to implicit aspects of our lives, such as culture, language, food, fashion, family, and self-expression.
At times, you might have felt discrimination or at a disadvantage in certain situations, due to the colour of your skin. Especially in the Western world, many values, traditions, norms, and assumptions about the lived human experience, can feel incongruent to your own narrative and life experiences, and make you feel detached, or like you don’t really fit in.
Working together with humility, I can help you overcome shame, self-doubt, and loneliness around the topic of racial identity. I have a background in cross-cultural counselling, and have lived experience being raised in a family and culture that is different from the cultures that I interacted with at school and work. Together, lets help you integrate your racial identity in a healthy way, and look at it as a strength, and not a weakness.
