Life Transitions
“The Only Constant in Life Is Change” – Heraclitus
Time always moves forward. Every day, we age, the world around us changes a little bit, and we find ourselves transitioning into a different stage of life. However, we might sometimes feel like too much is happening at once, and it becomes difficult to adjust to a new role, situation, or position.
Some common life transitions include:
-Entering a different stage of development (e.g., Young Adult > Adult)
-Marriage
-Divorce or separation
-Becoming a parent or grandparent
-Graduating from school and entering the workforce
-Retirement
-Sale of business
-Job loss
-Death of a loved one
-Major accident
-Change in health
-Sudden financial change
When going through a life transition, you might feel stuck, alone, scared, and anxious. I want to validate that in times of uncertainty, our bodies can react out of shock when change comes too suddenly, and it can really affect our mental health and well-being if we’re unprepared for it. It may be the case that your life transition happened less recently, but you are having difficulties adapting to the new situation.
Working together, I provide a mindfulness-based approach to understanding our body and the negative emotions you are experiencing, during times of immense change. Together, we can explore some of the fears and uncertainties around your life transitions, and help you bring closure and comfort in taking the next step in life, and accepting change.
